Shooting Arrows

Verse to focus on:

“Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth.”
Psalm 127:4

Shooting Arrows

Did you know that you are a Warrior?

Our children are gifts from God. He blesses us with our little ones to teach us how it is to feel love in a way that goes beyond our understanding. There is no love quite like the love that we receive from our babies, no matter how messy, unorganized, frustrated, or clumsy we may be.

God gave our children to us in particular, because we are the only ones built in the exact way that fits the needs of the child’s future plans. Some days we may feel like we aren’t worthy of our children or we don’t know how we’re going to make it through the next tantrum, the next bad attitude, or the next artwork drawn on the bathroom wall that looks like chocolate, but is for sure poop.

There are days when giving up seems like the easiest and best route to go. Giving in to the tantrums, threatening with spankings, yelling out demands, and becoming a monster that your child only starts to rebel against more and resent. I am guilty of these things and I’ve been through so much heartache with it. I kept feeling like I was doing something wrong and that everything I was trying to improve was only making it worse. I stopped focusing on what I felt like I needed to do and started focusing on what God needed me to do.

Not too long ago, I began looking through the Bible for verses that fit this situation and I found many. But the one that really stuck out to me was Psalm 127:4 (the verse above). I love bows and I love arrows. So when I read this verse, I decided to look more into what Psalm 127:4 really meant.

Here’s what I found out about our enemy:

We are in constant battle with the enemy.

Everything that we do and everything that we say, the devil is paying attention. He wants to make sure that he gets us where we least expect it. When we are optimistic, he always has a way of showing us the negative things. When everything’s going great and we are coming out of that dark tunnel, the devil knows how to push us back into that tunnel or puts another tunnel ahead of us. It’s a battle that we’re up against all the time; day and night.

The enemy is smart.

The devil isn’t dumb. He knows what direction our world is heading towards. He’s excited about all of the bad things that are happening and all of the different cults and misconceptions. He likes it when we’re confused and overwhelmed with uncertainty. The devil likes it when we’re depressed and ready to give up. When the enemy sees devoted mamas raising their children, the world’s future, towards Jesus he will try everything that he can to guide them otherwise.

The enemy gets scared and intimidated.

When the devil sees Christian parents doing their duty and raising Jesus loving kids, he gets intimidated. He gets so furious that he can’t stand it. He will attack the parents in every way possible in order to get their attention and feel like they aren’t doing their job right. Just to create doubt, frustration, and ultimately the feeling of failure. When he sees that the parents are feeling those ways, he will attack even further to make sure that the job is done.

How we can prepare ourselves for battle and CONQUER:

Put on the full Armor of God.

We have a full set of armor that God has given us as Christians to resist the devil.

The Whole Armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18)

” A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.  For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.

Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.”
Ephesians 6:10-18

Prepare ALL of our weapons!

Our weapons, other than the sword of the Spirit (the Bible), is our most valuable treasures on earth. Our children. We need to make sure that our children are adorned with the Armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18) as well as we are. They are the next generation and they will be the future of our world. As their parents, it is our duty and calling to raise them to be men and/or women of faith and followers of Jesus. The first verse that I mentioned and the theme of this article is from Psalm 127:4,

“Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth.”
Psalm 127:4

Our children are apart of our weapons supply! We need to sharpen them and make sure that they can withstand the devil’s schemes. Then we need to pull back our cords and release them to fight their battles that we’ve prepared them for.

That’s what I call:

Shooting Arrows
